A rep (or repetition) is just one completion of a movement. For example, for one rep of a bench press you would start at the top, lower the weight to your chest, then return the weight. Doing this numerous times will make a set. So if you see somebody saying they bench 135 for 3x8, they are benching 8 repetitions in a row, then resting for a couple of minutes, then doing 8 more reps, then a rest, then 8 more, to make 3 sets of 8 repetitions. Hope this helps.
