.. this is so true, if she continues to exercise this way, her knees will be shot in a few years, it is the first thing I noticed, the snapping of her knees. I love kettle bells, really tests control. Trying to get LA Fitness here in the Burg, to introduce kettle bell workouts.

is this kettlebell the lady is lifting about 10-15 kgs?or heavier?

I understnad that each person has their own way of doing their fitness regime but,I dont do kettlebell through that "explosive method" and I have still seen maximum results. That explosive way may be fine for others but not all.

Criosdaidh Says:
And where did you get that jive from? She's going to wreck her knees doing the swing that way. The swing is for your glutes, as he stated correctly in the video. Your glutes are responsible for hip extension. She was barely getting any hip flexion/extension in that exercise. All her bend was coming from her lower back, not her hips. She was working her erector spinae more than her glutes. She's supposed to be using her glutes to create the kettlebells momentum, not her lower back.
Criosdaidh Says:
I was just going to post the exact same thing. I have a 4 year degree in Strength and Conditioning and have been a PT for 5 years since graduating. Her lower back was acting as the fulcrum in the swing and not only was she locking out her knees she was popping/snapping which is exponentially worse. Not that this means it's any worse than the rest of the 60 bucks and 2 x 8 hour day certified personal trainers putting videos on the tube.
order2khaos Says:
Kettlebell swings are properly done with an explosive, full extension of the legs, hip flexors, and core-- what you observed as "snapping" the knees is the appropriate technique, and is not harmful in any way. What you do not want to do is practice the movement with any less than maximum extension, because otherwise, you will not see the full benefit of the exercise. Cheers.

What's interesting to me is that I THINK many of the workouts that say "for women" should also say "and men over 50"
MamaJacqueroo Says:
It makes my back hurt to watch this. Geez I wish I could participate in this.

Please let me know what weigh kettlebell you are using for each exercise
isenstrider Says:
@ annehadarik Agreed. Swings arent well executed.
annehadarik Says:
please correct her posture! she is snapping her knees in the first exercise. Kettle weight training needs to be done more fluently and controlled.

Awesome ideas! I'm a sportbike rider and want to get into better shape to start with as well as maintain my core strength off-season. I used to indoor-wall climb during the winter months but laid off it over a year ago...this will do nicely! (Plus I'm starting back climbing in a month I think...)
